The Collection Counselor position helps manage all aspects of their accounts receivable cycle to achieve improved business performance. The Collection Counselor will work with colleagues, departments, payers and outside collection agencies to develop strategy, procedures and processes to ensure proper reimbursement and timely payments.
CPT and Diagnosis coding experience and understanding
Computer and 10-key skills required; data entry experience preferred
Ability to reconcile and balance computer entries
One year experience in customer service and familiarity with collection regulations
Must have excellent communication skills orally, written and by telephone
Previous account collection experience is helpful
Must have excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to effectively calm patients and be able to deal with distressed and/or agitated patients.
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Additional medical billing education or equivalent of one year's experience in a medical office
