Position Summary:
MultiCare Health System (MHS) is seeking a Director of Ambulatory Pharmacy to lead Pharmacy Services within the health system.   MHS’ primary presence is in the Tacoma, Washington area and is comprised of five hospitals (four adult and one pediatric) with approximately 1400 licensed beds, 160 clinics, 31 urgent care, 11 retail clinics and a network of 740+ providers.  MultiCare Health System is a $ 1.9 billion enterprise with over 12,000 employees.  Additional strategic growth and expansion is underway and will increase the organization’s footprint and services across the Pacific Northwest.

MultiCare’s ambulatory pharmacy services includes eleven retail pharmacy operations, four ambulatory oncology infusion pharmacies, separate adult and pediatric ambulatory non-oncology infusion services, five anticoagulation/pharmacy resource clinics, diabetes education and a pediatric home infusion service.  Many of our ambulatory pharmacists are credentialed and privileged providers who support managing medication therapy for patients.  

The Director of Ambulatory Pharmacy will provide leadership to more than 215 FTEs and manage an operating budget totaling $103 million.  The Director will have overall responsibility for the development of strategy, growth, and operations and will provide leadership for all aspects of MHS’s ambulatory pharmacy services to include the facilitation of relationships between the medical staff and nursing.  He/She will also work collaboratively with MHS senior leaders, as well as MultiCare’s pharmacy leadership to develop strategic, operating and financial plans for ambulatory pharmacy services.  The Director will foster a patient focused environment in support of the delivery of the highest quality care, as well as a vision for pharmacy services across the continuum of care.  

Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of retail/ambulatory pharmacy management leadership experience.  He/She will be an accomplished pharmacy leader who can work effectively in a highly matrixed and relationship-driven culture.  The selected candidate will hold a Master degree or significant current progress towards completion with a commitment to complete and will be licensed or eligible for licensure in Washington State.

Minimum Requirements:
5 years management experience in pharmacy operations with progressive advancement in responsibility and position
8 years experience and mastery of professional or technical role/function

Current Washington State Pharmacist License
Successful completion of an Accredited ASHP Pharmacy Residency Program preferred
Masters Degree required or significant current progress towards completion with a commitment to complete
