The Director of Security Services directs the development, implementation and evaluation of the security program for the MultiCare Health System, ensuring secure facilities, physical security and security of assets, and a secure environment for the patients, staff, physicians, volunteers, and community to any MultiCare location. This position is the top Security Officer for the Health System and provides leadership and expertise across the all locations to include hospitals, ambulatory settings, urgent care centers and business occupancies, as well as high risk settings such as behavioral health settings, emergency departments, pediatric settings, NICUs, and Women and Newborn services. Security program includes employed and contracted officers and sophisticated technological infrastructure. Work situations are highly varied and require the use of independent judgment, decision-making, management skill, problem solving, fact finding, prioritization, and delegation of daily operations in the department. This position requires a service-oriented individual, effective collaboration, creativity, ability to deal with sensitive and confidential security issues, and is a key communicator in the System on the subject of security.
Ten years of progressive experience in both a managerial and supervisory capacity in law enforcement or security management with at least five of these in a healthcare environment, preferably a large healthcare system OR a combination of education and experience that would be considered the equivalent of the above.
Bachelors degree in security-related field required, Masters degree preferred
Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator or other security professional certification preferred
Active member in the International Association of Hospital Security and ASIS preferred
Current Washington State Drivers License; and proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MHS Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state or ability to obtain upon hire
