Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs echocardiograms to produce diagnostic data assessing heart function and capability to be used by the cardiologist to enhance the care and treatment of the patient. In doing so, obtains pertinent patient information and explains the purpose and duration of testing to the patients. Reviews results and arranges reports for physician review. In addition, performs peripheral arterial/venous, abdominal arterial/venous, carotid duplex and transcranial Doppler ultrasound examinations. Assists Echo-Vascular Lab Manager and attends required CEU to maintain registry status. Provides the highest quality echocardiography and vascular care for Inland Cardiology Associate’s patients.
Registered or successful completion of accredited academic program in Echocardiography according to Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or CCI (RCS). Successful completion of registration within 2 years of starting employment. Current registration including American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or CCI (RVS) and a minimum of two years work experience as a vascular sonographer. Ability to skillfully operate standard medical/testing equipment used for cardiac diagnostic purposes to optimize data by applying principles of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology. Software capabilities of, Meditech, Excel, Echo switchboard/Microsoft Access, Word, PowerPoint and Access 2000 (digital reading system) and typing skills of 35 plus words per minute. Possesses cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification. Requires clear close and distance vision with the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Presents neat, professional appearance. Possesses current valid driver’s license. Under the direct supervision of the Vascular Lab Manager performs peripheral arterial/venous, abdominal arterial/venous, carotid duplex and transcranial Doppler ultrasound examinations. Assists Echo-Vascular Lab Manager and attends required CEU to maintain registry status. Provides the highest quality vascular care. Possesses valid, current driver’s license. Travel is Required.
Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR required. Current RDCS or RCS and RVT or RVS certification.
