Position Summary: The Surgical Services Nursing Educator is a clinician with a high degree of knowledge, skill, and competence in a specialized area of nursing.  The Surgical Services Nursing Educator is responsible for the organization, administration, continued development, evaluation and effectiveness of educational programs presented to Surgical Services and other clinical staff within Perioperative Services, including PAT, PreOp, IntraOp, PACU and Central Sterile.

Minimum Requirements: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Surgical Services nursing area. Demonstrated ability to work in a collegial and collaborative relationship with other health care team members in the promotion and provision of comprehensive patient care. Mastery of principles and practice of Surgical Services nursing required.  Mastery of adult education techniques required.  Excellent written, oral and presentation communication skills using the English language required.  Independent judgment, organizational ability and initiative are required.  PC skills for word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software required.

Education/Licenses/Certifications: B.S.N. Required. Masters degree in health related field with experience in Surgical Services nursing preferred. Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse. ACLS Instructor status preferred. BLS Instructor status preferred. CNOR/CPAN preferred.
