Position Summary:
The Labor & Employee Relations Manager(s), will support employee and labor relations activities across MultiCare Health System as assigned by the Director, Labor & Employee Relations. The Labor & Employee Relations Manager is an independent indirect leader, focused on building positive and influential relationships among all levels in the organization, with external Labor partners, and within the represented bargaining units. This role will work as part of the Labor Relations Center of Excellence (COE) within Human Potential to develop and facilitate labor strategy, resolve employee and labor relations issues, participate in collective bargaining, arbitration, and grievances, and manage all contract implementations. This position will play a major role in updating, interpreting and applying employee relations policies and the collective bargaining agreements applicable to bargaining unit employees across the Health System. As the subject matter expert, the Labor & Employee Relations Manager provides recommendations and/or solutions to HR colleagues and leaders at all levels of the organization, including executive leadership. This position serves as Chief Negotiator for collective bargaining agreements throughout the Health System, driving conflict resolution and positive employee and labor relations aligned with MultiCare values and business strategy.

Minimum Requirements:
Five (5) years of professional experience in labor and employee relations required.
Two (2) years’ experience collective bargaining required, Chief Spokesperson experience strongly preferred.
Experience must include leading contract interpretation and implementation, grievance processing, performance management, and facilitating communication and working relationships with union organizations and management.
Possesses a working knowledge of application of laws and regulatory standards such as FLSA, FMLA, NLRA, EEOC, Workers’ Compensation, ADA, HIPAA, COBRA and preferably The Joint Commission (TJC) principles and practices.
Experience with employment-related investigations and grievance administration.
Effective internal and external consulting, facilitation, and leadership skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, Labor Relations, or related discipline required
Juris Doctorate or Master’s degree preferred
Human resources professional certification preferred (PHR, SPHR, etc.)
