Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse Lactation Consultant is responsible and accountable for the delivery of direct patient care and provides direction and supervision for the ancillary nursing personnel to whom such care has been delegated.  The nurse utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in accordance with the Washington State Nurse Practice Act and Good Samaritan Hospital Standards, Policies and Procedures. The Lactation Consultant coordinates and ensures that educational activities are conducted with nursing staff, patient, and families.  The consultant accepts the commitment to professional development as an integral part of nursing practice and coordinates patient care activities with other members of the health care team.

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum one year of RN experience.
Physically able to stand and/or walk throughout building for completion of consultations.

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Washington.
Certified by International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).

Current Lactation Consultant experience required.  Must also be an RN with OB experience.
