The Manager of Safety Environment of Care is responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating, and monitoring the comprehensive environmental safety programs and initiatives of MultiCare, assuring a safe environment is maintained and safety policies are developed and implemented in accordance with national, state, local, and Joint Commission requirements. The Environment of Care Safety Manager acts as the organization’s subject matter expert on environmental safety and serves as a consultant to leadership for environmental safety regulatory requirements (to include Joint Commission, State of Washington Safety and Health, Environmental Protection Agency, and Labor and Industry), processes, policies, procedures, and compliance. The incumbent provides oversight to major contractor(s) providing hazardous waste services (biological, pharmaceutical and chemical) and functions as the organization’s designated Safety Officer with broad safety-related decision making authority
Five (5) years of experience in positions where the primary focus was to provide leadership for environmental safety at an organizational level, including performance improvement activities, safety metric measurement and management, or quality assurance/improvement functions
Three (3) years of experience in a supervisory or lead capacity
Bachelor’s degree is a health and safety related field required
Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP)
Certified Healthcare Environmental Manager (HEM)
Valid Washington state driver's license
