This position is a clinical point of contact for the patient in coordinating care and assists the provider with the clerical/administrative aspects of their job.. This individual supports the care team by working side by side with the provider, and closely with other clinical and front office staff. This position may schedule tests and procedures to be performed. This individual enters data (including orders, progress notes) into the electronic medical record system on the behalf of, and at the direction of the provider. Work situations include a variety of clinical functions requiring knowledge and integration of available standards, resources, and data. Individual must be able to demonstrate discretion, good judgment, diplomacy, decision making, and possess a customer service attitude. This position involves interaction with the patient and professionals, which at times may be under stressful circumstances, and requires tact, good judgment, discretion, good public relations and organization skills. Acting as the patient advocate, this position has continuous contact with physicians, patients, patient families/ significant others, community agencies, and MHS patient care staff and management.
Two years experience working in a physician’s office
Experience with electronic medical records.
Completion of an approved program for Medical Assistants
Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C)
