Position Summary:
The Manager-Nursing Professional Development is responsible for the management of the overall operations of the department to include the provision of resources and establishing and maintaining an environment that facilitates optimal, cost-efficient professional development programs and services. This position ensures each program within the department is designed and implemented in ways that align with evidence-based professional standards and accrediting bodies. The incumbent will also establish and monitor the standard operating procedures, policies and tools for each program in collaboration with the Executive Director and Program Manager; ensure identification of and appropriate utilization of needed human, space and material resources and create and sustain a collaborative environment between the department and key stakeholders, such as nursing administration, executives and leaders, to achieve safe and quality patient outcomes across MHS.
This position operates with liberal independence under supervision by Executive Director. Major decisions require consultation with Executive Director. This position manages human resources. Work situations are varied with an emphasis on developing and executing leadership competencies, such as those outlined by AONL, managing human, space and material resources, expert knowledge, synthesis and evaluation of ANPD Scope and Standards, ANA Scope and Standards, ANA Code of Ethics, ANA Social Policy and applicable Washington State laws, rules, policies related to nursing practice. Additional work situations will includes process improvement, return on investment, business proposals and management, data management, technology, educational design, accreditation documentation and professional writing, research, grant writing, program management, customer relations, standardization, communication, organization, prioritization, flexibility and creativity. This position requires extensive internal and external contacts. Internal contacts are with all levels of staff and management as determined by Executive Director. External contacts include health care organizations, professional organizations, vendors and other relevant organizations.

Minimum Requirements:
5 years acute care nursing practice
– 5 years of experience in nursing professional development practice
3 years of increasing responsibilities in a leadership capacity

– Master Degree in Nursing required
Bachelor Degree required
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington
ANCC NPD specialty certification preferred; if not in possession at time of hire, must acquire within 2 years of hire
Specialty certification in nursing leadership within 2 years of hire
