Unit Overview:
Seeking an experienced Nurse Leader to mentor and lead the nursing staff on the Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit at Tacoma General Hospital. This unit is the first and only inpatient program in Pierce County designed specifically to help teens facing mental health crisis. Our 27-bed hospital-based unit (opened three years ago), was designed to be a modern, inviting space with private rooms and open social areas, while also including state-of-the-art safety features to protect patients and staff. We are proud of the awards we have won for both design and safety! Qualified candidates should have prior experience with Behavioral Health patients in an acute care setting. Experience working with adolescent is preferred, not required. A Master’s prepared nurse is preferred; however, those currently in a enrolled in a program are welcomed to apply.

Position Summary:
The Nurse Manager is responsible for the coordination of the overall operations of an assigned unit(s) to include the provision of resources and an environment that facilitates optimal, cost efficient patient care delivery. This position defines and monitors the standards of patient care and nursing practice, ensures availability and appropriate utilization of needed human and material resources, supports collaboration between nursing, physicians, and other disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes. Major decisions are subject to the review and approval of the Clinical Director. This position requires extensive internal and external contacts. Internal contacts are with all levels of staff and management. External contacts include physicians, physician office staff, outside health care providers and organizations, vendors, and management from other health care facilities and agencies.

Minimum Requirements:
Five years of clinical experience in professional or technical role/function
3 years of experience in a supervisory or lead capacity
Consideration may be given to internal candidates not meeting the minimum qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
Master’s degree preferred
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington (or the ability to obtain prior to starting)
