The Patient Safety Officer (PSO) is responsible for daily operations and activities related to patient safety. The PSO develops, implements and measures complex cross-functional performance assessment and improvement projects/initiatives, including investigations of patient safety events for assigned area(s). The incumbent conducts ongoing performance analysis to identify clinical outcome and other improvement opportunities, coaches/educates providers and management and supports teams/task forces to ensure successful outcomes of projects and reduce patient harm. The PSO builds and maintains strong business relationships with leadership, agency personnel, providers, and employees system-wide to facilitate the overall patient safety strategies.
This position provides system wide support for patient safety events to include after hours/weekend work on a rotation basis, as required.
Three (3) years clinical experience in an acute care setting required
Five (5) years experience working in a quality management or patient safety a healthcare setting required
Bachelors degree in health care field required
Masters degree in health care field preferred
Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Washington
Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred
This position will be the Patient Safety Officer for the Auburn Medical Center (AMC) excluding the Behavioral Health Units at AMC. In addition, this position will be the Patient Safety Officer for the Covington MHS locations.
