Position Summary:
The Physician Advisor (PA) conducts clinical reviews on cases referred by utilization management staff and/or other health care professionals. The case reviews are to help meet payment and regulatory requirements in accordance with the hospitals objectives and for assuring quality patient care and effective, efficient utilization of health care services. The PA meets with utilization management and health care team members to discuss selected cases and make recommendations for documentation and status, interacting with medical staff members and medical directors of third party payers to discuss the needs of patients and alternative levels of care. The PA acts as consultant to and resource for attending physicians regarding their decisions relative to appropriateness of hospitalization, continued stay, and use of resources. The PA further acts as a resource for the medical staff regarding federal and state utilization and quality regulations. The PA will have a dotted reporting relationship to a physician executive.

Minimum Requirements:
Three (3) years of medical practice experience preferred
Utilization management and leadership experience preferred

Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Licensed physician in the state of Washington
Board certification or board eligible required
Masters level training in management (e.g. MBA, MHA, MMM, etc.) preferred
