The RN-Clinical Documentation Specialist is responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation. This position is responsible for the facilitation of modifications to clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, and coding staff to ensure that appropriate reimbursement is received for the level of service rendered to all patients. This is a professional level position requiring organization and interpretation of information relating to a wide variety of policies, procedures and programs. This position also requires a clinical background, independence, and strong facilitation and analytical skills. This position requires regular significant contacts with other personnel throughout and outside the medical center.
5 years recent clinical experience in a hospital setting, or 4 years recent clinical experience and two years ICD-9 Coding experience
Utilization Review or coding experience preferred
RN; BSN preferred
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington
