About the Program:
The Navos Sunstone program provides intensive 24-hour residential and psychiatric care for children and adolescents. The program is licensed for 33 residential treatment beds, with youth referred by the Children's Long-Term Inpatient Program (CLIP) Administration and by parents through third party insurance.

About the Position:
The Youth Therapist works as part of a multidisciplinary team providing therapy, case management services, and discharge planning, managing an assigned caseload of youth. The Youth Therapist must be willing and able to be flexible as the demands of the youth and the facility change. Therapists develop goals, treatment plans, and discharge plans in collaboration with Sunstone Multidisciplinary Treatment team, youth, and natural supports.

•Provide individual, family and group therapy. Value client voice, choice and self-advocacy.
•Provide education and psychoeducation to the youth and to natural supports (guardians, family members) to better support client upon discharge.
•Help natural supports develop skills to help with youth reintegration into community.
•Present verbally and in writing in a professional and positive manner, at all times. This is especially crucial as the Youth Therapist represents Sunstone and Navos to the community and to families/natural supports.
•Develop and implement psychosocial assessments, individualized treatment plans and behavioral support plans, within required timeframes.
•Collaborate and consult with cottage staff in developing milieu strategies; when necessary, support milieu management through personal support and interventions. This may take the form of participating in hands on restraint or active de-escalation efforts.
•Commitment to cultural competence, trauma-informed care, recovery principles, youth voice and self-advocacy
•Work collaboratively on a multidisciplinary team
•Excellent communication, teamwork and computer skills; knowledge of child development, attachment theory, and family systems treatment interventions
•Experience or demonstrated knowledge or CBT and/or DBT
•Ability to work some evenings and one weekend day


Education and/or Experience:
•Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or counseling required; social work preferred
•LMHCA, LISCWA, or LMFTA required, or the applicant may be enrolled in an appropriate Master’s level program.
•LMHC, LISCSW, or LMFT preferred
•2+ years’ experience working with residential youth preferred
•1 to 2 years post-masters experience preferred.
•1 year care coordinator/discharge planning experience preferred
•Experience providing family-centered, culturally-competent and recovery-oriented care preferred
•Experience creating effective discharge plans preferred
•Experience with crisis planning, preferred
•Pass required WA State background checks.

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:
•Proof of registration as an Associate or Agency-Affiliated Counselor with the State of Washington.
•Current WA state driver’s license.
•Current First Aid and CPR certification, or the willingness to obtain this credential within the first three months.
•Current WA State Food Handlers permit, or the willingness to obtain this credential within the first three months.
•National Provider Identifier (NPI) or ability to obtain before your first day of employment, or the willingness to collaborate with Navos to obtain this NPI number.
•Must be 21 years of age per state regulations.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Staff must be able to lift 50 lbs. This job may require staff to be involved in both physical holds and restraint application. Staff are provided training in active de-escalation, evasion, physical restraint and seclusion. This training must be completed as scheduled to continue your employment.
