The Vocational Mental Health Therapist (VMHT) for the Program for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) serves clients with severe and persistent mental health challenges whose employability or job adjustment may be impaired by physical, mental, behavioral or other impairment conditions. The VMHT prepares adult clients for work activities and/or jobs in their communities by delivering counseling and case management services and partnering with the local business community to determine a job match and/or create customized employment. The VMHT maintains a client caseload following established treatment guidelines and agency policies and procedures by providing evidence-based therapeutic intervention that are individually matched to the needs of each client, provides referrals to other services and programs in the community as needed, and actively advocates on behalf of the client.

Incumbents are required to participate in an on-call schedule and perform scheduled work outside of normal business hours.

Principal Accountabilities
- Provides person-centered counseling, advocacy and case management for clients.
- Works extensively with the business community to identify employment opportunities for individuals with physical and severe mental health challenges.
- Performs community outreach to develop relationships and job positions for PACT clients
- Completes intakes and vocational assessments as assigned
- Provides training and support to employers and staff to enable them to support the client on the job
- Provides long-term support to employer by maintaining regular communication
- Develops treatment plans which clearly identify the client’s voice, treatment strategies, and specific outcome measures.
- Meets agency documentation standards.
- Strategically tailors effective clinical/case management services to meeting diverse client needs.
- Adheres to MHS Attendance and Punctuality Policy and Procedure standards, and maintains reliable attendance
- Contributes to the success of the organization by meeting organizational competency expectations and core values (respect, integrity, stewardship, excellence, collaboration and kindness), continuously learning, and by performing other duties as needed or assigned

Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a behavioral health related field or 4 years of directly applicable work experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
Must obtain Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor registration upon hire
Current Washington State Driver’s License; and proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MHS Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state. May also require reliable vehicle for client transport.

Schedule:
This position works in the community and travel to client’s location throughout Pierce County during the day is required. We are a 24 hours per day, seven days a week department with regular weekly schedule; three days from 8am-4pm and two days 12pm-8pm. Each team member works one weekend a month with hours of 10am-6pm. A day off the previous week and subsequent week maintains the 40 hr schedule plus rotating holidays.
