Navos is seeking a full time Psychiatrist to join their collegial team. The Psychiatrist provides and assures medical and psychiatric care for individuals admitted to the unit through daily direct service, weekend coverage and 24-hour on-call coverage on an intermittent and as needed basis. This includes completing timely initial psychiatric assessments, daily progress notes, and discharge summaries. The position requires close collaboration with other services, including primary care, nursing, social work, and floor staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to community mental health. We are looking for people with an ability to work with multidisciplinary treatment teams as an expert resource. You must have a thorough knowledge of psychotropic medications and be able to communicate this effectively to patients and staff. You must have a thorough knowledge of theories of human behavior, personality development, psychological and physical cause of mental disorders. You must have a familiarity with Washington Administrative Code regulations and professional standards governing the treatment of the mentally ill.

Education, Experience, and Certification:
• Completion of an APA-approved residency in psychiatry
• MD degree with Board eligibility in psychiatry
• Experience working in psychiatric settings with both acutely and chronically mentally ill adults preferred
• Current, thorough, familiarity with psychotropic medications, their prescribing, administration, and appropriate monitoring, including the assessment and management of potential side effects
