Position Summary:
The Patient Safety Program Manager is responsible for daily operations and activities related to patient safety to ensure patient safety and reduce patient harm; implementing tools and techniques that drive High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles and practices. The incumbent is accountable for the development, implementation and monitoring of the HRO and patient safety program; developing partnerships with operational partners. This includes conducting projects, policies and procedures in accordance with Washington State’s quality improvement and medical malpractice prevention program, applicable regulations, Federal Laws and The Joint Commission requirements. The Patient Safety Program Manager leads classification of serious safety events, the analysis of precursor and near-miss events to proactively look for opportunities to improve patient safety and utilizes root cause analysis (RCA) and other event analysis appropriate for the type and performance improvement (PI) tools to investigate and remediate harm events. This includes timely escalation of high risk events to assigned Director. The Program Manager provides HRO subject matter expertise and integrates the work of patient safety with operational partners, risk management and patient advocacy and coordinates HRO and PI activities to reduce identified potential harm. The PSPM works as part of a team and is assigned to a location(s), specialties, or services based on department needs.

Minimum Requirements:
Three (3) years clinical experience in an acute care setting required and/or clinical experience in a specific specialty
? Five (5) years of experience in a professional or technical role/function in an acute care setting
Previous experience with computerized information systems (email, MS Office, hospital systems, etc) required

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, or obtained within three years from the initial date of hire
Advanced Degree in Nursing (MSN, PhD, DNP, ARNP) preferred
Licensed in the State of Washington as a Registered Nurse
Quality or patient safety certification, such as CPHQ or CPPS, preferred
