The Ophthalmic Technician will assist the Pediatric Ophthalmologist by performing ophthalmic services at the clinical level. This will include obtaining patient history and chief complaint, completing basic work up exam and ancillary testing per physician orders and protocol. They may assist with in-office procedures as appropriate and in accordance with scope of practice. The Ophthalmic Technician will administer ocular medications as prescribed by the physician and provide patient counseling regarding proper use of medication. They will educate patients on diseases and treatment plan as determined by physician. This position will also be responsible for maintaining proper supplies for the clinic and other assigned duties which contribute to the efficient operation of the clinic. This role will participate in the training and education of other clinic staff members.
Two years of experience as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant
Pediatric experience preferred or at minimum a strong desire to work with and help children
Completion of Ophthalmic Technician or Ophthalmic Assistant training and certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.
Certification must be maintained through continuing education.
Must obtain MA-R within 60 days of hire
