COPE Health Scholars
By partnering with COPE Health Scholars, MultiCare is able to offer an immersive experiential education program for aspiring health professionals at Deaconess Hospital and Valley Hospital in Spokane, WA. We currently offer two programs – the Health Scholars program for students accepted to, enrolled in or graduated from local 2-year or 4-year colleges and universities, and the Junior Health Scholar Program for high school students between the ages of 16-18.
About the Health Scholar Program
The Health Scholar program is for students accepted to, enrolled in or graduated from local 2-year or 4-year colleges and universities. As a Health Scholar, you will gain firsthand experience in both clinical and administrative health care settings and become an integral part of the care delivery team. You will assist with basic care for patients alongside nurses, physicians and other members of the care delivery team, and have opportunities to learn the “business” of health care, preparing you for your health care career.
Commitment
Students attend one 4-hour shift per week in order to complete 280 graduation hours and be awarded a record of completion from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. Each quarter, Scholars rotate to a new department where they assist staff with non-clinical tasks and support with key initiatives targeted to improve the patient experience.
Apply
All applicants must complete an online application, in-person interview, 30 hours of training and are required to pass two exams before becoming Health Scholars. We accept applications and offer this program multiple times a year. See full program and application schedule. Ready to apply? Go to the online application.
